2.6. Save email attachments to Documents

To copy an email attachment from your mailbox to Documents:

  1. Open the email in the iPad/iPhone email client.
  2. Tap and hold the attachment icon or tap the Share button. 
  3. Select Copy to Documents.

A copy of the file will be saved in Documents and opened for preview. Note: to troubleshoot the cases when Documents does not appear in the list of extensions, please see the following article (6.5. There is no Documents app in the 'Open in' menu).

You can also save files to a specific folder in the Documents app using the Files app. For this follow the steps below:

  1. Tap the file in a third-party app you work with and tap an Actions button  .
  2. Tap 'Save to Files'.
  3. When the Files app is launched, tap the Documents extension in the list of app and select the folder you would like to save the file to. As a result, the file will be saved to the selected folder of Documents 6 app.

Note: if Documents is not in the list of extensions in the Files app, open the Files app > 'Browse' view, tap 'Edit' in the top right corner, enable Documents toggle in the list of Locations, tap 'Done'. Now you will have access to the local files and folders in Documents via the Files app.
