9.2. Transfer files to another device with WebDAV and AirDrop

If you have PDF Expert 7 on both your iPhone and iPad, you can easily transfer files between your devices. 

Transfer files to another device using WebDAV 

With PDF Expert 7, you can connect iPhone to iPad via WebDAV. This way, you can access all files and folders from your iPad on your iPhone and vice versa. You can also easily download or upload files and photos from one device to another.

To use WebDAV to transfer files between iOS devices, please make sure that: 

  • Both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • PDF Expert is launched on both iPad and iPhone.
  • Enable WebDAV in the PDF Expert settings on both devices. For this, open PDF Expert and go to Settings > WebDAV Server. Create any login and password you like and tap Start WebDAV.  

How to transfer files from iPad to iPhone:

  1. Open PDF Expert on both devices.
  2. On your iPhone, tap Connections at the bottom.  
  3. Select Add Connection > WebDAV and tap the blue Available Devices icon.

  4. Find and tap your iPad under Available Devices.
  5. Enter the login and password you used to set up WebDAV on your iPad and tap Done.
  6. Now, you can see the files and folders from your iPad.
  7. To transfer the files from your iPad to your iPhone, tap … More on the needed file and select Download.
  8. To download multiple files or folders at once, tap Select at the top right, choose the files, and tap Download at the bottom.

  9. If you'd like to get some files from your iPhone to iPad, tap Select at the top right, tap Upload at the bottom and pick the files.

How to transfer files from iPhone to iPad:

  1. Open PDF Expert on both devices.
  2. Tap + Add Connection on the sidebar. 
  3. Select WebDAV and tap the blue Available Devices icon.

  4. Find your iPhone under Available Devices.
  5. Enter the login and password you used to set up WebDAV on your iPhone and tap Done.
  6. Now, you can see the files and folders from your iPhone.
  7. To download the iPhone files on your iPad, tap … More on the needed file and select Download.
  8. To download multiple files or folders at once, tap Select at the top right, choose the files, and tap Download on the sidebar.

  9. If you want to transfer some files from your iPad to your iPhone, tap Select at the top right, tap Upload on the sidebar and choose the needed files.

Note: If you can't find your iPhone or iPad among available devices, you can set up the permanent connection manually:

  • On your iPhone: Go to Connections > Add connection> WebDAV. Add the URL you'll find in PDF Expert on your iPad (Settings > WebDAV), fill out the other fields and tap Save.
  • On your iPad: Tap + Add Connection on the sidebar and choose WebDAV. Add the URL from PDF Expert app  on your iPhone (Settings > WebDAV), fill out the other fields and tap Save 

Transfer files to another device using AirDrop 

AirDrop lets you quickly transfer files between iPhones and iPads. Before you begin, make sure that the person you're sending to is nearby and within Bluetooth and Wi-Fi range. Check that you and the person you're sending to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. If either of you has Personal Hotspot on, turn it off.

Note: If the other person’s AirDrop receiving setting is set to Contacts Only and you’re in their Contacts, they need to have your Apple ID information in your contact card for AirDrop to work. Otherwise, choose Everyone in order to receive the file.

To transfer PDF Expert files from your iPad with AirDrop, follow the steps below:     

  1. Tap ... More on the file you'd like to share.
  2. Select Share.
  3. Choose the contact you would like to send this file.
