Spark for Mac

5.5. Customize the Sidebar

Spark allows you to rearrange folders, customize the sidebar to your own liking and stay focused on only the pertinent folders.

Here are some tips to make your experience with Spark more efficient:

  • Our ‘More’ item serves as the main way to navigate through your folders and subfolders. In most cases, it provides you with faster access to the folders that you use and reduces sidebar clutter.
  • The ‘Favorites’ section on the sidebar allows you to pin your main folders. Click ‘More’ > choose folder or subfolder you want to be displayed on your sidebar > Add a star to this folder.
  • After the folder is added to the ‘Favorites’ section, you can also choose the folder color with a right-click on the preferred one  > ‘Change Folder Color’.
  • If you would like to keep the previous sidebar functionality with the accounts pinned on the sidebar and the folders under them, simply star your account.
  • You can easily reorder folders on the sidebar with drag&drop including system folders like Spam or Trash.
  • Display Badge with the number of ‘Unread’ or ‘All messages’ in your custom folders. To turn it on, go to Spark > Preferences > General > Message count.
  • Show message counter on Drafts, Spam and Trash folders. Just right-click on the system folder and select ‘Show Badge’.
  • Click on the folder you want to work with and it will be automatically added to the ‘Recents’ sections on your sidebar; so you can access it quickly anytime.
  • If you want to delete a folder from the ‘Recents’ section, right-click on it and choose ‘Remove from Sidebar’ option.
  • New folders can be created right from the Sidebar, and they will be added to your account and are accessible in Spark (Click ‘More’ > choose account > Create new folder).
  • Smart folders can also be easily created via the ‘More’ option (Click ‘More’ > ‘Create Smart folder’ and enter the filter for this folder).
